Word on Australian riots

SYDNEY, Australia - The racial unrest that broke out in Sydney's beachside suburbs over the weekend has spread to two other large Australian cities, where people of Middle Eastern descent were assaulted by whites, police said Tuesday.
In New South Wales, where Sydney is located, lawmakers scheduled an emergency session of the state Parliament to consider legislation cracking down on the rioters who rampaged through the city's suburbs for two straight nights, the region's premier said.
Seven people were injured and 11 arrested after youths rioted in the suburbs Monday night, smashing the windows of stores, homes and parked cars. The youths appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent, leading police to believe the destruction was in response to racially fueled attacks on a Sydney beach a day earlier.

This pundit thinks thanks some muslim immgrant groups fail assimilate into the western society they move into, living in the - in post 9/11 world and during the war against Islamic terror this ought infuriate certain people, so there is no easy sollution for this dilemma; what is happening in Australia today is probably an equal and opposite reaction to events in France last month - whatever the reason is, the sooner the war against Islamic terrorism is won, the better off the world will be ...

I challenge the moderator to give a valid explanation for the demonstration at Cronulla beach...and exactly why it is any different than the group or middle eastern youth who attacked australian suburbs.

If you paid any attention you would have noticed that the beach protestors attacked harmless law abiding citizens who looked to be of middle eastern descent. No anger in the world could possibly justify attacking law abiding citizens. Secondly...SKY News....a reliable Australian news agency, reported that many of those gathered on the beach were intoxicated. It does not sound like a rational group of angry citizens...but rather a gang of racist criminals looking for a cheap thrill at the expense of god fearing lawful arab-australian citizens.

easy parallel - the attacked was provoked by the attack on 2 volunteer lifeguards; just like Paris riots were provoked by accidental electrocution of two muslim juveniles

Again, I agree with Kommander, his points are valid in what he said. No one in this world should attack any law abiding citizen because they are following the law as they should.

Also, YuGunter, just like Paris riots were provoked by accidental electrocution of two muslim juveniles, this is not true as you know the real truth and will not admit it. Also, what is wrong with Harper and why is not admitting to being buddy buddy with Bush as he is, Conservative= Republican, clue in Harper you idiot!

If the attacks of 2 muslims in Paris speaks to the intolerance of french police...then the victimization of two australian lifeguards or the rape of australian women in 2002 speak to the general intolerance of Australian society to lebanese immigrants.

The Lebanese-Australians generally live in low income areas of large metropolitan cities. In these areas unemployment ranges from 30-60%.....a staggering number to say the least.

Many of these youth have experienced racism at its best and took a turn for the worse...a consequence of the lack in social programs.

While I do not agree with the lebanese thugs...i simply wish to point the pattern between the lebanese youth criminals and the north african criminals in Paris. Generally all of them come from poor neighborhoods where they experience helplessness and no sense of belonging.

The answer to the crime wave is to reach out and help our fellow Australians improve their communities. Gathering on a beach to beat the shit out of innocent civilians is no better than the any criminal.

Oh...and lets stop blaming the lebanese for these atrocities. These so called "lebs" were born and raised in Australia...and indication that they are more Australian than middle eastern.
