It is thought to be the biggest ever armed robbery in Britain. The thieves posed as police to abduct the manager of the Securitas depot in Tonbridge and his family.
The manager was taken to the Vale Road security depot at around 1am, Kent Police said. t least six men, some armed with handguns, then threatened and tied up around 15 members of staff.
The gang loaded a substantial amount of cash into a white lorry before driving off at about 2.15am. Police were alerted about an hour later when the staff activated an alarm. No one was hurt in the robbery.
