Is Iraq sliding towards sectarian civil war?

Judge yourselves, this is just from today's newswires, all this in one day (23/02/2006), see if you can even keep track of casualties:

* One policeman was killed and four wounded by a road side bomb in Iskandariya, south of Baghdad, police said.

* Three Task Force Band of Brothers Soldiers from the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division were killed when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device northeast of Balad Feb. 23

* Fighting broke out Thursday afternoon in Mahmoudiya, south of Baghdad, between al-Sadr's Mahdi Army militia and Sunni militiamen. Two civilians were killed and five militiamen were injured, police Capt. Rashid al-Samaraie said.

* Four Soldiers from 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division were killed near Hawijah Feb. 23 when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.

* Basra death toll of 25 included up to 11 Sunni rebel suspects hauled from a prison overnight by men in police uniform and left shot dead around the mainly Shi'ite southern city.

* At least 46 bodies were found scattered across Iraq late Wednesday and early Thursday, many of them shot execution-style and dumped in Shiite-dominated parts of the capital, Baghdad.

* A pushcart bomb blew up near an Iraqi army foot patrol in a popular market in Baquba on Thursday, killing 16 people, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua--including eight soldiers

* Five Iraqis attempting to enter conflict-ridden Samarra, 110 kilometers north of Baghdad, were killed by a US army patrol on Thursday after a security cordon was placed on the city.

* The hardline Sunni clerical Association of Muslim Scholars said 168 Sunni mosques were attacked, 10 imams killed and 15 abducted. The figures could not be independently confirmed.

and list goes on, problem is someone from outside *ahem* Iran * is instigating a civil war between Shi'ites and Sunnis, and liberal media, by only covering the negative developments only fuels; especially the bombing of Golden Dome mosque could not have been an inside job - this is getting serious, and any withdrawal of our forces now will lead to a complete disaster.
